Technical Assistance for Ciliwung River Basin Wastewater Management is a KH contract with the Directorate for Environmental Sanitation Development of the Directorate General of Cipta Karya in 2013, with an activity period of 15 March - 9 December 2013. The location of activities is Segment 5 & 6 of Ciliwung River Basin (Prov. DKI Jakarta). The condition of the Ciliwung River which is categorized as heavily polluted is the concern of all parties. The government and non-governmental organizations have shared efforts and programs to improve the quality of the Ciliwung River. One source of Ciliwung River pollution is domestic waste water which is directly discharged into the river without prior treatment. This is due to the low awareness of the community towards sanitation. There are still many people who live alongside the river throwing out garbage and open defecation. For this reason, it is necessary to develop programs and strategies to reduce the level of pollution of the Ciliwung River.
