Engineering Service for Peusangan 1 & 2 Hydroelectric Power Plant Construction Project (88 MW).
In the IBRD sponsored Hydropower Potential Study (HPPS) conducted, nation wide in 1981-1983, the Project was identified as the top priority projects in Aceh Province (NAD) to help meet the projected power demand in the PLN Region I to Year 2000.
The Project was to explore the hydropower potential of Lake Tawar and Peusangan River. It utilized naturally stored water in the lake which shows little seasonal fluctuation, and a total of water drop of 411 m which existed in the first strecth of the river from the lake outlet, for favorable power generation.
The formulated development plan include two run-of-river type power plants Peusangan No. 1 (44.6 MW) and Peusangan No. 2 (42.6 MW).
