PT Bukit Asam, Tbk (PTBA) as the only BUMN engaged in the field Coal Mining and as one of the holders of a Coal Mining Business License, in good faith along with the Government and related parties, participate in succeeding the development goals of South Sumatra's economic corridor, as a national energy barn.

The location of the PTBA mine which is far from the seaport requires adequate transportation infrastructure to transport coal production. Increasing coal production is only possible if it's supported by adequate transportation infrastructure. Construction of railroad tracks economically preferred because of the cost of coal transportation using rail transportation is cheaper than using road transportation. Due to the condition of the land it is inadequate then other locations are needed to support the improvement plan PTBA port capacity. With the planned increase in coal production capacity, PTBA plans to:

  1. Developing railroad coal transportation routes to the north with a capacity of 10 million tons per year
  2. Building new infrastructure ports with a capacity of 10 million tons per year
